Study Visits

 

"A study visit to Italy"

From November 2 to November 6 a representative team of the Center of European Law and Integration made a study visit to Italy. The main aim of the visit was to establish links and cooperation with leading academic institution of Italy specializing in European Studies.  Several significant agreements were reached on launching   cooperation with the European University Institute, the University of Siena and LUISS University of Rome.

 "Turkey-EU-Armenia: Opportunities and Challenges" book presentation

The interdisciplinary research conducted by the Center of European Law and Integration resulted in a "Turkey-EU-Armenia: Opportunities and Challenges" book.  The presentation took place on October 10th at "Erebuni" Conference hall in "Erebuni Plaza" Business Centre.

Current activities

 

"Legal Protection of Economic Competition of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Armenia" Project

     

On October 16 the Center for European Law and Integration signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic Armenia and "Brave" Law firm on the implementation of the "Legal Protection of Economic Competition of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Armenia" Project.  The Project has the aims to increase the efficiency of the state policy on the protection of economic competition in the Republic of Armenia, to secure favourable environment for the protection of economic competition for small and medium entrepreneurship as well as to enhance the quality and efficiency of services provided by the Court of the Republic of Armenia on the protection of rights and legal interests of small and medium entrepreneurship.  For more detailed information please follow the link.

 

"Armenia in Europe" TV Programme

Starting from February 2009 Center for European Law and Integration and “ArmNews” TV Company are broadcasting “Armenia in Europe” TV programme. The TV programme is intended to promote public understanding of the EU and its values, to stipulate political dialogue and to somehow contribute to the awareness of the Armenian society about the integration processes. Each programme is devoted to discussion of one topic by presenting the different aspects of the topic through the means of an interview with an expert in the field, reporting of an independent expert on the topic under discussion, public opinion inquiry, as well as by quoting some of the leading European newspaper articles... read more

Master Program in European Studies

YSU Center for European Law and Integration for the first time in the Republic of Armenia announced admission to “European Studies” interdisciplinary master’s program for academic year 2008-2009. 19 students are enrolled in two- year program. The program is elaborated and invested by the direct participation and assistance of European College of Parma and European Council. Former Romanian Minister of Culture and Youth delivers a lecture at CELI, Yerevan, May 21, 2009

Former Romanian Minister of Culture and Youth, writer Alexander Mironov delivered an informative and comprehensive lecture at the Center for European Law and Integration on May 21, 2009. A. Mironov spoke of European integration in Romania, cooperation in the scientific sphere, and of those EU foundations and projects which are supporting non-member states. He presented the latest sources of alternative energy, particularly, the possibilities of utilization of the desert sun energy. At the end of the lecture the participants watched a short movie which presented achievements of the 20th century.

Lecture on "Conditions for Creating Stable States", Yerevan, May 15, 2009

On May 15, 2009 Senior Research Professor from National Defense University, Washington D.C., USA, Dr. Michael J. Baranick delivered a lecture at the Center for European Law and Integration to the first year Master students of European Studies and the staff of the Center as a guest lecturer. The lecture was devoted to the creation of a stable state, sustainability, good governance, security, the conditions and traps for the development as well as to conflict structure, actors and dynamics. Professor Baranick assured the students that knowledge gained at the University and delivered on TV should be always analyzed and not taken for granted. This specific lecture covered the examples of Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and provided the students with assessments of the ongoing conflicts. Professor Theodore Panayotou, Rector of Cyprus International Institute of Management delivers a lecture at CELI, Yerevan, May 6, 2009

Professor Theodore Panayotou, Rector of Cyprus International Institute of Management lectured to the students of the Master on European Studies. During the lecture Professor Panayotou spoke of economic and political aspects of the process of European integration by analyzing the possible losses and achievements. He also spoke of the European integration processes in Cyprus and Armenia, drew parallels and assured that despite some political problems Armenia has all the opportunities to become a full member of the European family.

Lecture on “Consumer protection and healthcare in EU” Yerevan, April 2009

Taking into account the international importance of health right and increase of the public interest in it, YSU Center for European Law and Integration with active support of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia worked out a lecture on “Consumer protection and healthcare in EU”, which is intended to be delivered within the framework of YSU Law Faculty and CELI European Studies Master Programme. A pilot lecture of the mentioned training was delivered from April 2 to 3, 2009 for the students of CELI European Studies Master Programme with participation of guest lecturers from “Bioethics Development Society” and “Real world, real people” NGOs, which made it possible to thoroughly study both legal and medical aspects of the discussed issues.

First Armenian team for the Central and Eastern European Moot Court Competition, Poznan, May 2008

In the year 2008 the Center for European Law and Integration (CELI) and the German Robert Bosch Lectureship program have supported the preparation and participation of the first team from Armenia in the competition which was held in Poland in the city of Poznan. The students found themselves competing before judges from the European Union and its institutions, the world of academia and the professional community. The YSU team won the first place at the "Interactive Human Rights" European Law Mooting Competition, Yerevan, February 2008

The oral stage of the European Moot Court competition on European Court of Human Rights organized by “Youth for achievement” took place in February 2008. About 15 teams representing the leading universities in Armenia were taking part on the competition. The competition was held on 7 and 8 of the February. The judges of the competition during all sessions were the outstanding professionals from different fields: governmental representatives, judges, lawyers, lecturers’ etc. The YSU team reached the final after the preliminary, quarterfinal and semi-final. Only two teams, which received the highest scores throughout the competition, advanced to final round: the teams of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University and Yerevan State University. The team of Slavonic University was representing the interests of the applicant and accordingly the YSU team was representing the governmental position during the final competition, which took place on 14 February. "Improving the process of teaching courses in the field of European Studies” workshop, Aghveran, 26.01.2008 

 

 

“Improving the process of teaching courses in the field of European Studies” workshop was held on the 25-29 January 2008 in Aghveran, Armenia. The workshop was organized by ECEILAW Project in cooperation with: Project “Institute of European Studies”, Tbilisi, Georgia, Yerevan State University and Tbilisi State University. Lecturers in European Studies/European Law from Tbilisi State University and Yerevan State University participated in the workshop. Its organization was intended to reveal the challenges and suggest the means to improve the process of teaching European studies through presentations, exchanging ideas and experience among participants. This workshop was funded by the European Union.

Co-organization of a Conference on European Neighborhood Policy, Yerevan. 18.11.2007        

International Conference "50th Anniversary of the European Union. Integration prosess in ENP region. European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument" was held in Yerevan, from November 18-19.
